Training for district leaders

 
 

T here are several opportunities for district leaders to learn more about their upcoming responsibilities so they can effectively serve Rotary beyond the club level.


District team training seminar

Building an effective district leadership team before taking office is the key to having a successful Rotary year. The district team training seminar helps prepare incoming assistant governors and district committee members and chairs to support Rotary clubs as they pursue the Object of Rotary.

Who participates: Rotarians appointed by their governor-elect to serve as assistant governors, or district committee chairs and members for the next Rotary year

Recommended time frame: Annually, in February

Governors-elect training seminar (GETS)

Governors-elect training seminars (GETS) around the world prepare the incoming class of RI district governors to successfully lead their district. These regional meetings allow governors-elect to discuss effective strategies in their part of the Rotary world.

Rotary institutes

Rotary institutes bring current and past RI officers together to learn about the latest Rotary developments, including RI policies and programs. The meeting is a forum to discuss Rotary programs and issues and highlight successful efforts in each zone.

Who participates: Past, current, and incoming RI officers and their guests

Recommended time frame: Annually, from August to December (Rotary Institute Schedule)

Zone-level district trainer program

District trainers provide club and district leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to meet their responsibilities. The district trainer program focuses on the skills needed to be an effective Rotary trainer and on the practice of those skills. It is also an opportunity for district trainers to share their experience and knowledge with others.

Regional membership seminar

The regional membership seminar is designed to train district leaders in fostering Rotary’s growth and development through its most basic element: Rotary club members. This seminar helps district leaders in each zone to find ways to support membership development activities at the club and district levels.

Who participates: Past governors, current governors, current and incoming district membership development committee chairs and members, district extension committee chairs and members, assistant governors, and district trainers

Recommended time frame: Annually, in April or May

Regional Rotary Foundation seminar

The Rotary Foundation is a vehicle through which club members can collectively realize Rotary’s vision for a better world. The regional Rotary Foundation seminar aims to motivate Rotary leaders to support and participate in Foundation programs and to provide the latest information on Foundation programs and policies. The meeting also emphasizes the responsibility of each Rotarian to financially support the Foundation and how to encourage other Rotarians to give.

Who participates: District Rotary Foundation committee chairs and members, district governors, and interested Rotarians
